Highlights

01 Gotthardpass & Tremola

02 Nufenenpass

03 Swiss Nature

01 Gotthardpass & Tremola

The mythical heart of Switzerland. Its northern slopes were the nucleus of the 13th century oath fellowship. During the second world war, the Alpine Fortress Gotthard was to be the last line of the Swiss territorial defence. The 19th century cobble road with 24 switchbacks is an engineering marvel. The Gotthardpass is definitely one of the highlights of the Inferno Swiss!

02 Nufenenpass

At 2478m, the Nufenenpass is the highest paved mountain pass fully within Switzerland. Being a comparatively modern road – opened only in 1969 – it has no adaptions for horse carriages or early motorised vehicles. In other words, the climb is quite steep, over 8% average, and up to 13% on some ramps. But there is something to look forward to for the riders: at the top of the pass, they have access to their day bag, with personal nutrition or a change of clothes.

03 Swiss Nature

The second stage of the  Inferno Swiss is all about Nature. At the beginning we pass the UNESCO-protected Ruinaulta canyonlands. The Albulapass has become home for many wolves, and even some bears have been sighted! Finally, the last climbs of the day are in the Swiss National Park.

Bormio

The Sunday is the transfer day. After a relaxed breakfast, say farewell to your fellow cyclists. Optional transfers are offered to Interlaken, Zug, Geneva, and the Milano/Bergamo Airports.

Pricing, Packages & Extras

All packages include accommodation and all the meals from the eve of the first stage till the breakfast on the Sunday after the last stage. Further, you will be supported during the stages with an event director, feed stations on every mayor climb, a day bag for your personal equipment and nutrition, GPS live tracking, a media car, and a broom wagon in case something doesn't go 100% to plan. In the meantime, we transport your luggage to the next hotel.

Most of the support is the same for everyone, with one notable exception: the accommodation. To cater to different preferences (and budgets), you can choose between three options:

Budget
Accommodation in shared rooms, hostel-style

Comfort
Accommodation in twin/double hotel rooms (3 Stars or equivalent) with your team partner or another rider of the same gender

Single
Accommodation in a single hotel room (3 Stars or equivalent)

The earlier you register, the easier for us. Therefore, we offer Early Bird rates till March 31 for the Inferno Swiss. Regular registration will be available till April 30, roughly 15% more, and if there are still any spots left, followed by the late registration window.

Team spirit or going solo? Inspired by ski mountaineering races, the Inferno Series has been exclusively a team event till 2022. Both riders in the team complete the whole distance, it is not a relay.

Hearing about the challenges of many of you in finding a partner for the race, we opened the events to solo riders since the 2023 season. The race in teams of two stays at the core of the race – it can be very helpful to have a partner on your side when the riding gets tough.

But if you prefer to face the challenge solo, you can do so. And we are sure that the community of cyclists and the support by our team will ensure that you are never really alone on the road.

We offer transfers, massages, Friends & Family Packages, and in cooperation with BCYCLET, rental bikes as extras. All extras are subject to availability, the earlier you book them, the better.

For the Inferno Swiss we offer the following transfers. The transport of your bike is included.

June 26
Geneva Airport – Interlaken

June 29
Bormio – Interlaken
Bormio – Zug
Bormio – Airport Milano/Bergamo
Bormio – Geneva Airport

Friends and family are very welcome at the Inferno Events – and you can book a package covering their accommodation and meals with us.

We are also looking for a small number of volunteers to support the events, this is a great opportunity to follow the cyclists if your partner, spouse, or friend is riding! Please contact us for volunteering.

If you want to ride your own bike, we offer as an extra to transport a flight case/bike box for you from Interlaken to Bormio.

Boxes from our partner Buxumbox are transported free of charge!

In case traveling with your bike is proving too challenging, BCYCLET has a special offer for rental bikes for you. The rental bikes will be ready on the 26th of June in Interlaken, and collected on the 29th in Bormio

By participating in the Inferno Swiss, you commit yourself to respect the environment. It is strictly forbidden to litter on the course. Any rider caught littering will be immediately excluded from the event.

The route passes through mountain pastures, where cows graze. The cows have the right of way! Generally, they are not dangerous, but please try to keep your distance! It is best to make eye contact with the cow and observe whether she has noticed you. Especially if calves are with the cows, caution is advised. The mother cows have a strong protective instinct and will defend their calves if they feel threatened.

Most public transport buses in Switzerland are run by the Swiss Post, and called “Postauto”. They are easily recognisable by their yellow colour – and on mountain roads, they have often an absolute right of way!

Those roads are marked with traffic signs carrying a golden Posthorn on a blue background. The “Postautos” use a three-tone horn before tunnels and tight turns – listen up, you don’t want to mess with the Swiss public transport!
